Request withholding on Social Security income – it’s simple

Use IRS Form W-4V to request federal withholding on social security income. When using the form, you can only choose a specific percentage to be withheld: 7%, 10%, 12%, or 22% of your monthly benefit. Mail in or drop off the form at your local social security office or call the benefits help line at 800-772-1213 to arrange withholding by phone.
